It’s Friday, so that can only mean one thing…. It’s party time at Fiesta Friday over at Angie’s place! I’ve met so many new people over the last few weeks and just like me, they bring something to the party.
This week I’m bringing a classic sweet treat to the party; this rich, fudgy, chocolaty bite has been decorated with some Fiesta Friday party glamour. Unashamedly, I’m using goddess Nigella’s recipe…. I’ve used this recipe for years, adding different chocolates or nuts- it works, so I’m not changing it! It’s quick, it’s huge (in her book How to be a Domestic Goddess, she says this recipe makes a maximum of 48) I make about 24 large pieces.
Fiesta Friday Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients:
375g soft butter
375g dark chocolate
6 eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
500g caster sugar
225g plain flour
Pinch of salt
300g walnuts
Decoration:
100g white chocolate
Silver balls (edible)!
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C / gas mark 4. Line a brownie pan (all of it) with parchment paper.
Melt the butter and chocolate together in a large heavy based pan. In a bowl beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla. In another bowl, sieve in the flour and add the salt.
When the chocolate mix has melted, let it cool a bit before beating in the eggs and sugar, then the nuts and flour. Beat until smooth, scrapping the saucepan into the tin.
Bake for 25 minutes. When they are ready, the top will be dry but the middle still very gooey and dense. They will continue to cook as they cool.
Once the are cool, melt the white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of water. Take the brownies carefully out of the tin and spread on a baking tray or surface that is easy to clean! Using a spoon, high above the brownies and shake the white chocolate over them. It will splash about like paint- be warned! Finally add silver balls sporadically amongst the white chocolate.
Happy Friday!

Love the Jackson Pollock splatters. I used to do this with cut out cookies and coloured icings when my son was young – complete mess in the kitchen, but lots of fun! Brownies look yummy!

It just breaks the dull brown finish… Jackson Pollock indeed!

I am obsessed with those little edible silver decorations (Dragees!). I used them to decorate snowflake shortbread cookies for years and now I can’t find them here…. I had to replace them with nonpareils – still cute but not the same!! They look pretty on your fun brownie icing! 🙂

Thanks for letting me know what they are actually called!

I love the personal touch you have given these brownies. I have made these same ones from Nigella’s book, but they never looked as festive as these. I agree, dark chocolate makes all the difference in taste, but a creative imagination makes the presentation so much more fun. Thanks for bringing the to the party.

Yay, festive bling-y brownies! I made blingy cookies for a Eurovision party once, and they were lots of fun to eat. Your fudgy and blingy brownies – how could you go wrong with Nutella? – would be out of this works!
