Bed & Breakfast broiche

I got lots of little bits completed around the house in June. The bedroom got its finishing touches and one Sunday morning I made a deliciously simple breakfast, hence the dodgy title to this post!

For the bedroom, I found neutral, simple curtains and beautiful matching bedding. Warm golds and blackcurrant give a hint of warmth to this otherwise white room. Little candles and pictures blend in amongst the necessities like the radio.

I painted the curtain rails and rings white, so that the pattern and colour of the curtains pop out.

The large window cills have been left empty to let the light flood in, with the exception of a simple frame in one and a candle holder in the other.

The simple white bedside tables match the simple cottage style bed.

Finally, the chest of drawers that is nestled in the corner alcove is dressed with family photos and a very special jewellery box. All these little trinkets make this calm,ย serene room very special.

The breakfast part of my title today comes from this delightful make:

Strawberry breakfast broiche
Take a couple of small broiche rolls and slice in half.

image

Wash and cut up some strawberries.

Pan fry the broiche in a little butter over a medium heat until golden brown.

Pile the strawberries onto the toasted broiche and serve with vanilla or natural yogurt.

Now, I’d love to invite you to stay for b&b, but if I did that I’d have no where to sleep!

Everywhere from the entrance to the drive, to the back door is now blooming.

These beautiful Hyacinths come in a variety of colours and shades, and have an amazingly strong sweet fragrance.

The garden even has some wonderful funky plant holders, a present from a dear friend! These bright red Tulips contrast the teacup and teapot really well.

Of course, The Glen House wouldn’t be complete without a little guest.

Post number 50….Already?

post-milestone-50-1x

I can’t believe it, I’ve only been blogging for about four months and THIS is my 50th post! My blog was started so that I could share my adventures in my new home, I never actually thought anyone would read it!

image

To mark this first big milestone I thought I would share 5 of my favourite posts so far:
NB… The photos in the rest of this post are of pictures and wall hangings around The Glen House.

image

1) “About”- Well this is me; the photo on this page is one of the first taken at The Glen House…. How time flies though, we were here five months on St. Valentine’s Day!

image

2) “The Goan Glen House”- one of my favourite places in the world. Goa is amazing! I always leave a part of my heart behind when I come away….

image

3) “Advent Calendar Day 1”- this is the icecreamย choccy loaf one. I had decided to blog every day of advent, what a crazy idea but it was great fun!

image

4) “The wood burning stove”- With the weather in Ireland being so awful, the fire keeps me toasty! Every day it gets lit, so I’m lucky enough to sit and glare at it with a cuppa or a glass of wine!

image

5) “Happy”- I don’t need to ‘hashtag’ 100 days of happy, I just get on with it! “Because I’m HAPPY
